Big goal feast keeps leading clubs happy

IT rained goals in the Pefa Premier League with 23 scored without reply in just three matches on Friday.

At their fortress, The Valley, Hearts thumped Motherwell Academy 9-0 after leading 5-0 at the break.

Mark Upman, Bob Yuill and Robbie Formento (2) started the rout. In the second half, Upman completed his hat-trick with Yuill, Chuwynn Mintoor and Suleiman Mumuni adding one each. Last week Academy lost 8-1 to PE Defence.

At the NMMU south campus, Vodacom NMMU Madibaz beat KwaDwesi All Stars 10-0.

The lead was only 2-0 at half time with goals by Kurt Duff and Cladius Sagandira. The floodgates then opened with Sagandira adding another three. Sachin Jackson (2), Onela Beqezi, Vuyo Ngako and Duff completed the rout.

At Londt Park, Callies scored an easy 4-0 win after being 0-0 at the break.

Minutes after the restart, Warren Reid set the ball rolling for Callies.

Farouk Abrahams, Darryn Bamboo and Bernito Esau then added their names to the scoresheet.

On Saturday, newly promoted Toshiba Old Grey scored their first win in the senior league, beating Central Acemates 1-0. John Giannakis scored.

NMB Municipali­ty beat PE Defence by the same margin. Results: Hearts 9 Motherwell Academy 0, Vodacom NMMU Madibaz 10 KwaDwesi All Stars 0, Callies 4 Highbury 0, Toshiba Old Grey 1 Central Acemates 0, Forresters 2 Warriors 1 ALL the top five teams in the Wafa Premier League came off unscathed on Sunday.

Log-leaders Young Cosmos recovered from their shock defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Friday to thrash tailenders Gideonites 4-0.

Nearest challenger­s African Aces also recovered from their defeat by Cosmos the previous day to score an easy 5-1 win over Bayna Eagles.

United proved their win over Cosmos was no fluke when they beat Mabayibone Strikers, who are four places above them, 3-0.

United are the only team to collect maximum points from their triplehead­er over the long weekend.

It was a disappoint­ing weekend for Strikers who lost all their matches.
