CJ, Luke could start for Kings

-

43rd minute and flank Watson came on for Eital Bredenkamp after 60 minutes.

With a long injury list to consider, the Kings are facing some selection headaches ahead of what promises to be a tight encounter against the Sharks.

The Kings medical staff have announced that decisions on whether Kerrod (foot injury), Aidon Davis (knee injury), Dylan Frylinck (thigh injury) and Stefan Willemse (knee injury) will play will be made today.

The good news for the Kings was that several players returned to training yesterday which could see some changes made to Friday’s starting lineup.

Back on the training pitch were George Whitehead, Tim Whitehead, Tim Agaba, Scott van Breeda and Sylvian Mahuza.

It was also announced that flyhalf Gary van Aswegen did not have an operation and that his knee was drained, but no decision on his return to action has been made.

Tony Jantjies will continue with physiotherapy and will be ready for Currie Cup pre-season training.

Stand-in flyhalf Hansie Graaff was in prolific form against Boland and, apart from scoring a try, kicked three conversions and a penalty in the easy win.

The Kings are expected to name their team today.

While the Kings were on their way to a commanding win over Boland, the Sharks crashed to a 27-24 defeat against Griquas in Pietermaritzburg.

The visitors also found themselves 24-15 down with just 10 minutes of the match left, but they turned in a storming finish as they grabbed two tries, one of which was converted, in the space of five minutes to move to second on the South Section log standings.

It was a heart-breaking finish for the Sharks XV, who topped the South Section log the last two seasons. They have lost four matches and won’t feature in this year’s playoffs.

So, even though the match is of academic interest only, both teams will be looking to finish on a high.
