Harry Potter actor filming in Cape
VETERAN Hollywood actor Bill Paxton and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe are making the most of South African hospitality while shooting a movie in Cape Town.
The stars are in South Africa shooting a new BBC film, Game Changer, a tale about the battle over one of the world’s most popular entertainment franchises, the computer game Grand Theft Auto.
The game is a fantasy underworld where gamers can be criminals, hijacking cars while gunning down rival gangsters and cops.
Its latest version, GTA:V , became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning $1-billion (R12-billion) in its first three days, while taking awards from several publications.
Radcliffe plays lead character Sam Houser, co-founder of video game developer Rockstar Games, alongside Paxton as Jack Thompson, a lawyer determined to prove a link between the game and violent crime.
Radcliffe is the fourth star to shoot in Cape Town this year.
Irish band The Script shot the video for their hit single Man on the Wire in the city in February, while Soul Food actor Boris Kodjoe is shooting the German-produced series Dead before Dying, based on a book by South African crime fiction author Deon Meyer.
Also in Cape Town is Fifty Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan to film a new Netflix movie, Jadotville.
