Bay schools unite for annual Voce Volante

-

WESTERING High School in Port Elizabeth will be hosting its huge annual Voce Volante Choir Festival this weekend.

This show stopper event, to be held at the Feather Market Centre on Saturday, is expected to be the school’s most exciting choir festival yet.

As a result of the popularity of the festival, and the fact that it has become the biggest event on the city’s choral calendar, this year’s Voce Volante will include two concerts on one day.

The first concert, focusing on primary schools in the Bay, will feature the Eastern Cape junior children’s choir, the Eastern Cape children’s choir, the newly formed Nasco choir, Despatch Primary’s senior choir, Charlo Primary’s junior choir, the Harvest Primary school choir, Westering Primary’s school choir and the host choir from Westering High School.

The second concert, concentrating on the city’s high schools, will feature the Treble Tonez, the Eastern Cape youth choir, Cillié High, Harvest High, Riebeek College, Strelitzia High, MaryMount RC High, Despatch High, Westering High and the NMMU Choir.

Each choir will present a short programme of their own, with both concerts culminating in a massed choir performance of more than 400 and 500 voices respectively.

The first concert starts at 2.30pm and the second concert is at 6pm.

Tickets are R50 per adult and R25 per scholar, student and pensioner.

For tickets, available at the school office, contact Lorraine Swanepoel on (041) 360-7805.
