“AFTER climbing a great hill, one finds there are many more hills to climb.” – Nelson Mandela. 170 years is a massive achievement but the work of the great never ends. We know you will continue on this positive journey. Congratulations to you and your team on your wonderful achievement. The branches of the ACVV in PE congratulate The Herald on reaching a wonderful milestone and wish you continued success! Thank you for all the publicity given to welfare organisations thus creating awareness for those in need. Our proud congratulations. What an achievement. We appreciate the dedication it takes from the leader down. You are in a profession where the clock does not determine the hours. May you know how much The Herald is appreciated. Wisdom, light and love to you. You protect your city, I protect my family. You guide your readers, I guide my child. You never lie to those you love, I never lie to those I love. I’m proud to say my wedding anniversary is the same month as your birthday. Happy birthday to the most loyal, honest, protective and dedicated paper. You have lived through the discovery of gold and diamonds, the Boer War, the first and second world wars and the Korean and South African border conflicts. You have seen the change from colony to republic to Rainbow Nation. You have seen presidents come and go and shared our sadness with the death of Nelson Mandela and outbreaks of xenophobia. We were cheered by good news of sporting achievements and informed by details of load-shedding and, since 1981, you have faithfully delivered The Herald every morning to our postbox. Have a great birthday. We hope you have another 170. Ensuring we’re updated. Current, stretching to social media and quicker accessibility for the younger generation. Many more Heralds! Happy,

Happy Birthday. Wishing you a blessed 170th year! Keep up the great journalism. To all working for this beautiful newspaper, wishing you a happy 170th. I am what I am because of being informed by the news, sport and various issues affecting our communities through The Herald. I have been employed in three big companies through adverts in The Herald. God bless. Wishing the newspaper that has been delivering our news, views and voices for 170 years all of the best. Thanks for being my media companion for the past 46 years and for keeping us enlightened through numerous decades of historical and transformational change in our beloved region and country. For years my family and I have been dependent on The Herald to bring us the latest news and not once have they disappointed. Port Elizabeth wishes you the best birthday ever! From the editors to the photographers, you guys rock! I’d like to thank all working at The Herald as I believe each of you cares for your community. You don’t only bring news to SA, you bring information! You bring knowledge! You bring truth! Your role in SA is extremely important and without you we would be living under a rock! Thank you also for being so prompt with the news on social media.
