NEWLY appointed coach Garth Dickinson has brought stability into ABC Motsepe League soccer side Subs as they attempt to forge their way up the table.

This is the view of club chairman Bhongo Zondani after Dickinson started his coaching duties last weekend with a 3-2 win over Morning Stars in a Bay derby.

“Our new coach Pancho [Dickinson] started off very well,” Zondani said.

“Since his arrival he has brought stability to the team. The attitude of the players has changed. They are attending training sessions now, there are no excuses.”

Zondani is confident Subs will be able to secure a win today when they host Kokstad Liverpool at the Motherwell Stadium (kick-off 5pm).

“In our previous game against Kokstad they beat us 3-1 at [their] home. Now it’s our turn to get also get three points at home,” Zondani said.

“We want to end in the top eight this season so a win is very important for us.”

Subs are 12th on the Motsepe log, with 28 points from 23 games.

Meanwhile, Highbury will be looking to get back to their winning ways when they host Real City in a Bay derby today at the Cold Stream Stadium in Koukamma (kick-off 4pm).

The top Bay side have slipped down to fourth on the log after suffering consecutive defeats. However, Real City will also be out for a win in their quest to end in the top eight.

The Motherwell side’s 4-3 loss to La Liga was a setback as it saw them drop to 13th place.

The fixtures are: Today: 4pm: Mthatha City v Matta Milan (Mthatha Stadium), Highbury FC v Real City (Cold Stream Stadium); 5pm: Subs v Kokstad Liverpool (NU2 Motherwell Stadium); 6pm: FC Buffalo v JB Milan (Jan Smuts Stadium) Tomorrow: 1pm: Tembu Royals v FC Elliot (Rotary Stadium); 3pm: Zimbane Killers FC v Morning Stars FC, Cacadu United v Tornado (Alex High), La Liga v Mthatha Bucks (Thandanani Stadium)
