Mixed emotions as Zulu returns for Chippa game:

FORMER Chippa United striker David Zulu, who now plays for Kaizer Chiefs, says it will be an emotional experience when he lines up against his former teammates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium today at 3pm.

The stakes are high for relegation-haunted Chippa in this end-of-season Absa Premiership clash, and Zulu said he wanted a happy ending for both teams.

“I am looking forward to the game, but at the very same time there are emotions involved. Chippa are in a bad position at the moment. I would have liked to come to PE with Chippa in a different position than they are in at the moment.

“It might happen that when the referee blows the final whistle, I’ll be celebrating and on the other hand my former team might go to playoffs,”

Zulu said he would like to see both sides happy after the game today.

“I would like us to win the game and I would like things to go in Chippa’s favour today.”

He added: “We [Chiefs] will be out for a win today. Like for any other game we prepare to win so that we can collect points because we are also out for a true innovation.”

Zulu was snatched by Kaizer Chiefs from Chippa late last year. The fate of the Chilli Boys’ PSL campaign has come down to the last game of the season and one point will be enough to secure safety. The problem is, however, they need to secure it against this season’s PSL champions, the Amakhosi, who are out to finish their league-winning season on a high before being presented with the trophy at the stadium tonight.

Despite needing just one point, Chippa United’s caretaker coach Velile “Eddie” Dyaloyi said his side would be in all-out attack mode.

“I know we need one point, but we cannot just go and defend. We need to go out and attack,” Dyaloyi said. The Chilli Boys are placed 14th on the log, with 30 points from 29 games.

A draw or a win, will guarantee their PSL status.
