Winter Rose emerge champions

- Mogan Segadavan

DESPITE going down 2-1 to Red City in their final match of the season, Winter Rose were crowned the Nebfa Sedgars Premier League champions on Sunday.

Rose went into the weekend’s clash needing a draw to clinch the title ahead of PE Sundowns if they won their double header.

Unfortunately for Sundowns, while they thrashed struggling Friendly City 4-1, they then lost 1-0 to Bush Bucks, who were one place below them.

It was an excellent weekend for Bucks, who beat Real White City 2-0 in the second match. With one match remaining, they will end the season as runners-up.

Red City beat City Lads in their second match, but will finish no better than fourth. Black Stars and Pondo Stars will be relegated to the First Division.
