Busy schedule for Nodefa teams

- Mogan Segadavan

THERE are a flurry of matches in the Nodefa VW Community Trust Premier League over the next five days.

Starting this evening, outstanding fixtures are being played to complete the associations league programme ahead of the playoffs next week for a place in the SafaNMB SAB League.

Log-leaders Jamaican Stars had a disappointing weekend last week when they lost to Manchester United and drew with Khayelitsha Stars. Maximum points from the matches would have seen them home.

Jamaican Stars play New City Stars in their final fixture on Sunday. The result of the match could be academic, as United could clinch the league title the previous day.

United trail Stars by two points, with two matches in hand. They play Imbabala Young Stars this evening, Golden Chiefs on Friday and Khayelitsha on Saturday.

Maximum points will hand United the title.

But defending champions Imbabala have an outside chance of beating both Jamaican Stars and United to the title, if they thump United tonight and Really Rangers on Sunday – and the two frontrunners lose their matches.
