Youth Day charity event at SOS Village
TWO charity organisations will team up to make the lives of many Nelson Mandela Bay youngsters a little easier when they host a Youth Day charity event next month, called “We Are One”.
The organisations, Skin Deep and Buster McThundersticks, will work in association with the SOS Children’s Village to make the charity event possible.
With a variety of events including sporting activities, games and educational lessons, a mass feeding programme and a music concert, the aim of the event is to show children it is possible to overcome hardship.
The event will be held at the SOS Village in Schauderville on Youth Day, June 16.
Food for the village’s 80 children as well as cooked meals for a further 500 people from Schauderville will be served.
Buster McThundersticks is an organisation that works exclusively with the SOS Children’s Village. It provides the children with teaching and mentoring programmes, as well as getting them involved in sporting activities.
Buster spokesman Dwayne Rockman said: “We decided to collaborate on this project because we want to give back in a major way, both to the youth of the village, and to those less fortunate within our communities.”
Skin Deep ZA is an outreach organisation that assists commu- nities to improve the society they live in.
SOS Children’s Village public relations manager Mandy Spies said the charities involved believed in having fun while volunteering.
“We commend these young people for their efforts to bring unity to all, especially in the light of the recent spate of xenophobic attacks in our country,” she said.
