Jayson King back with Hit Express

JAYSON King returns to the Boardwalk Amphitheat­re with an all-new show featuring The Queens and Gypsy Latino, a seven-piece flamenco group in the style of the Gypsy Kings.

Lead guitar player Nizaam Deen Moses is recognised as one of South Africa’s top flamenco specialist­s.

The audience will be treated to hits like Volare, Bamboleo, Hotel California and Djobi Djoba, according to King.

The Queens will perform love and fun songs from the ’60s right through to today and covering the jazz, R&B, contempora­ry and rock genres.

King will also be joined by Groove Kings, a harmony group in the style of the Temptation­s, Earth Wind and Fire and The Jackson Five.

They will also perform covers from One Direction, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.

King will deliver numbers such as Engelbert Humperdinc­k’s Man without Love, Julio Iglesias’s Amor, Amor, Amor and Nat King Cole’s Unforgetta­ble.

The Queens’ Ruth Knight, Sumaya Hendricks and Christine Matthee will pay tribute to the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Gloria Gaynor, Etta James, Celine Dion, Diana Ross and the Supremes, The Dreamgirls and The Pointer Sisters.

A newcomer to Jayson King production is Steve Ashley from Johannesbu­rg, a former member of Staccattos which was responsibl­e for the ’60s hit Cry to Me.

Hit Express will be at the Boardwalk amphitheat­re tomorrow and Saturday from 7.30pm.
