Radio host Anele Mdoda wins award, dazzles with baby news

WHEN Anele Mdoda accepted her You Spectacula­r award in a long white dress with embellishe­d lace, she was asked how she felt.

“Pregnant,” she said, cradling her baby bump. “Like I have to pee. I will say this, he’s a Leo.”

The 94.7 Highveld Stereo drive-time radio show host won You magazine’s favourite radio personalit­y award.

Despite not elaboratin­g, Mdoda’s news made social media headlines, with 5FM’s DJ Fresh leading the congratula­tory messages.

The glamorous awards event, at the Emperors Palace in Johannesbu­rg on Saturday night, was hosted by comedian Anne Hirsch.

Jonathan Boynton-Lee of Top Billing scooped two gongs – as the sexiest male and as favourite TV presenter – and so too did rapper Cassper Nyovest – the favourite newcomer and the favourite music star.

SABC2’s 7de Laan was hailed best soapie while two of its cast members, Vinette Ebrahim and Theodore Jantjies, were crowned favourite actress and actor respective­ly.

Mother of two and model Lee-Ann Liebenberg, who looked ravishing in an emerald mini dress by Jenni Button’s Warrick Gautier, took the sexiest woman award again – a record sixth win for her in that category.

Sports presenter Minenhle Dlamini was handed the most stylish female celeb lure, beating Miss South Africa beauty queens Jo-Ann Strauss and Vanessa Carreira-Coutroulis – while model Maps Maponyane nabbed the most stylish male celeb award.

Other winners were Loyiso and Jen Bala (favourite couple), Gareth Cliff, (social media star), and cricketer AB de Villiers (favourite sports star).
