REAL City moved into the top eight following a 5-4 victory over Angavu Stars FC in an ABC Motsepe League fixture on Saturday.

The win has placed coach Bonke Namba’s troops in eighth place on the log with 41 points.

The game was crucial for both sides as Stars are eyeing the top four and Bay side City want a top-eight finish. This is the Motherwell side’s second season in the league.

Ahead of the game, Namba said finishing in the top eight this season was important for the team.

City need to win their remaining game on Wednesday against Morning Stars in order to maintain their spot.

Conversely, Wednesday’s game will be a decider of Morning Stars’ future as they are dicing with relegation. The Kwazakhele side are 15th on the log with 29 points, and three teams will be relegated from the league this season.

Mthatha Bucks are the winners of the ABC Motsepe League this season. Their 1-0 win over Zimbane Killers sealed the deal for the Mthatha side, who have booked themselves a place in the promotion playoffs which will be held in Kimberley.

Bucks, who are on 74 points, have done exceptionally well this season, winning 22 games, drawing eight and losing only one game in 31 matches.

They will be looking to end the season on a high when they play their final game of the league against Angavu Stars FC on Wednesday.

The results were: Cacadu 1 Mthatha City 0, Highbury walkover FC Buffalo, La Liga 2 Subs 0, Mthatha Bucks 1 Zimbane 0, Real City 5 Angavu 4, Tornado 5 Morning 1, FC Elliot 3 Kokstad 1
