Madibaz, Young Cosmos promoted

- Mogan Segadavan

NMMU Madibaz (Pefa) and Young Cosmos (Wafa) will play in the Safa-NMB SAB League when the new season starts in August.

The students beat Manchester United (Nodefa) 5-3 in the semifinals, while Cosmos beat Young Teenagers (Kuyga) 4-3 on penalties after being 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

There was no need for a final as both semifinalists qualified for promotion.

Earlier, United beat Westhill United (Larofa) 2-1 in a Uitenhage derby.

Last week, they drew 1-1 and had to face each other again after the Zafa team, which both would have played, was booted out by the competitions committee.

There was a dispute between Seven United and Dynamos about the winner of the Zafa Premier League and since this could not be resolved, both teams were excluded from the playoffs.

Teenagers advanced to the semifinals on goal difference when they thrashed Major Chiefs 7-0 to pip Glenville.

Nubs and Eleven Wizards did not turn up for their group matches against Young Madrid and Winter Rose respectively.
