CHIPPA United goalkeeper Ayanda Masiko, who had a clean sheet in the 4-0 win over University of Pretoria, is hoping for another standout performance against Free State Stars at Goble Park tomorrow.

Masiko joined the Chilli Boys at the end of their pre-season camp.

The law student, who turns 27-year-old today, made an impressive PSL debut against AmaTuks and says he is ready for a repeat performance.

He said coach Roger Sikhakhane had prepared the team well during the two-week international break.

“I will be very excited if selected to play tomorrow. After my first PSL game against Tuks I learnt a lot about how the PSL is played.

“I am ready and hungry for more games,” he said. “Also, the players are more than ready for Free State Stars.

“We will take the positives from our previous game and go out there and win against Stars, so that we can get the necessary points.”

Masiko said he was nervous at first when he walked into the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, but later felt comfortable and enjoyed the game.

“Playing at a world-class stadium filled with supporters is any footballer’s dream.”

The goalkeeper, who hails from Nqamakwe, near East London, is determined to feature in all of Chippa’s games this season.

“I would love to see Chippa finish in a better position on the log this season than previously, and maybe get a trophy,” he said.

The Chilli Boys are seventh on the log with four points from three games.

Meanwhile, Chippa yesterday announced the appointment of Floyd Mogale as assistant coach to Sikhakhane for the season.

Youth development expert Mogale assisted Sikhakhane last season before leaving the club in January to join Free State Stars.

Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi said: “I am pleased to welcome Floyd Mogale back to the club. He worked very well with our head coach, Roger Sikhakhane, last season.

“He is someone who understands the culture of this club and brings a lot of experience to the technical team.”

ý Chippa United’s U23 team will be looking to record their first MultiChoice Diski Challenge win when they play Bloemfontein Celtic at Siwelele Park, Bloemfontein, tomorrow (10am).

Last week, the Bay side lost 1-0 to Mpumalanga Black Aces in the opening game of the league.

Coach Velile “Eddie” Dyaloyi said last week Chippa had set their sights on a top finish this season.
