TEACHERS TREATED WITH DISDAIN BY PUPILS
THE article with regard to the teacher from D F Malherbe (“Protection order for PE pupil”, September 23) is one which highlights the problems that many teachers face. Careful that the family (who have problems, according to the pupil) might blame you if she fails or does not do well. Teachers are treated with disdain by those who they try to educate. Parents should parent properly.

ALET Carstens, it sounds like you have a pupil from hell allegedly desperately looking for a way to justify her bad attitude. I feel sorry for you.

CONFLICTING DATES FOR COMPETITION
IN The Herald of September 15 the start date of the Ferrari competition is clearly stated as Monday September 21. In The Herald of September 16 the terms and conditions clearly state the competition starts on September 20. In The Herald of September 17 and 18 the start date is conveniently omitted. Is this because codes have been published in all editions from September 16 to 18 are not real entries into the competition, but a means to generate undeserved income? What are the correct rules and is this a case of “if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is”? Are we being fleeced?
I SPY
THE competition launch date was brought forward and all entries entered from September 16 have been entered into the draw. – Justin Peel, chief marketing officer, The Herald and Weekend Post
THANK YOU FOR AID TO DORA NGINZA
HEARTFELT thanks for wonderful support from Philips to Dora Nginza (“Babies get lifeline”, September 22). This should however not be necessary as our Department of Health should be responsible for supplying our needs.

BE CAREFUL DRIVING IN STANFORD ROAD
A WARNING to all people travelling in Stanford Road at night. On Saturday evening, my kids were travelling along Stanford Road (Helenvale area) when they were almost ambushed with someone throwing things at the car and two guys waiting further down the road for them to stop. They had the presence of mind to travel along and assess the damage at the nearest petrol station. We need more police patrols in the area. Please be on the lookout if you travel in the area.

HOW CAN WE TRUST VW AGAIN?
HOW can we trust VW again with the emissions scandal (“VWSA may face government probe after emissions shock”, September 23)?

UNIONS SEEM TO DICTATE NOW
NOW we can see who is running South Africa. The unions are now saying who they want in certain positions and if these persons don’t do as said by the union bosses, they are intimidated and marched out of office. No wonder the country is in such a bad state.

SILBY Mathew (“Action against top officials”, September 23): sir, you are an honest, non-corrupt manager of the highest integrity. All honest employees have the greatest respect for you.

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS
WELL said, Athol Trollip (“Visiting trenches of broken promises”, September 23). The ANC has forgotten about us. We believe in you and the DA. Keep doing what you are doing. We are hopeful. Change is coming.
AG ROSS, seems as if you have personal grudge against Schalk Burger (“Bok defeat easy to understand”, September 22)!

ON the dot, C Brown. Japan even knew how to prevent the tackler from rolling away. They were the more intelligent in the match. Eddie Jones is a very good coach.

CLEARLY the beach manager does not know about the municipal bylaws on noise control! At 2pm on Sunday afternoons loud music is not permitted and a fine can be levied!

HOW MUCH SICK LEAVE DOES MANAGER GET?
JUST how much paid sick leave is municipal manager Mpilo Mbambisa entitled to (“Municipal manager’s sick leave extended”, September 23)? By the time he returns to work, if in fact he does, he will have been off for some 39 days in one stretch! What ails him? Just asking!
