HIGHBURY will welcome newly promoted Young Ideas to the ABC Motsepe League when the two sides lock horns in one of today’s opening games at the Gelvandale Stadium (starting at 7pm).

This will be the first Bay derby of many as there are six PE teams in the league this season. They are Highbury, Young Ideas, Morning Stars, Subs, Lion City and Emperors.

Highbury will be aiming for the top spot on the log this time after finishing third last season.

Motherwell side Subs, in their second season in the league, will host Matta Milan at the NU2 Stadium today. They will be aiming for a better finish than last season’s 13th place.

Morning Stars survived relegation after Mthatha Bucks were promoted to the National First Division when they won the promotion playoffs in Kimberley.

Stars will, hopefully, have learnt from their mistakes and will be aiming to do better this season.

Stars play FC Elliot tomorrow at Elliot High.

The fixtures are: Today, 4pm: Tornado v Blackburn Rovers (Sisa Dukashe Stadium); 6pm: Subs v Matta Milan (NU2 Stadium), Future Tigers FC v Mthatha City (Jan Smuts Stadium); 7pm: Highbury v Young Ideas (Gelvandale Stadium) Tomorrow, 3pm: Lion City v EC Bees (NU2 Stadium), FC Elliot v Morning Stars (Elliot High), Kokstad Liverpool v FC Buffalo (Riverview Stadium), Zimbane Killers v Emperors (New Rest Stadium)

ý The Sasol league fixtures are: Tomorrow: 1pm: University of Fort Hare v Liverpool Ladies (Fort Hare), Birmingham City v Manchester Babes (Duncan Village); 3pm: City Lads v Thunderbirds (Chevrolet Stadium); 5pm: Mustangs Ladies v Golden Stars (VP)
