Keen table tennis contest

NMMU C stood firm in their first division table tennis match against Livvies B until Robert Morris clinched the contest for Livvies in the deciding encounter.

NMMU’s Akho Macingwane played superbly for the students throughout the match, but could not stop Morris in the final game, losing 11-9 12-14 14-12 as Livvies edged home 6-5.

Missing Claud Lawack, CSL Damascus battled against Despatch, losing 8-3, despite Marc Canterbury winning all his games.

Callies B regained their winning touch after losing their previous two encounters, defeating NMMU D.

The varsity side showed some fight, but Callies eventually won 9-2.

Aryans B had a tight contest against their C team in the premier league, eventually emerging 6-5 winners.

Young Zeenal Bhana starred for the C team, keeping a clean sheet by defeating Neil Hendricks (9-11 11-9 11-9), Shahied Abrahams (9-11 11-6 11-8) and Shahied Mamoojee (13-11 11-8).

Booysens Pride produced a big comeback by demolishin­g Callies A 9-1. Devin Langford, Vernal Higgins, Monde Cola and Melvin Septoo were all in top form for Booysens.
