TOP Bay team Lion City will lock horns with rivals Tornado in the much-anticipated ABC Motsepe League top-of-thetable soccer clash tomorrow at Motherwell’s NU2 Stadium.

The match will kick off at 3pm.

Both sides are level on 49 points from 22 games but the East London side are above City on goal difference.

The winners of this game will set the record straight and hopefully also give an insight into which of the two teams is likely to be crowned the league champions this season.

Tornado’s 10-0 win against Future Stars last weekend saw them climb back to the top spot.

On the other hand, City’s 1-1 draw against FC Elliot saw them drop to second position on the log.

The visitors’ coach, Thobela Bikwani, said Tornado would be coming to Port Elizabeth to finish what they had started in the first leg of the league when they beat the hosts 2-0.

“The team is looking good for the game.

“We don’t have any injuries and the players are motivated,” he said.

“This game is important for both teams as the winner will occupy the top spot on the log.”

Bikwani, the former Cape Town All Stars assistant coach, said he was not too bothered about their opponents.

“We have played them before and we beat them,” he said.

“We have been watching them. We know what they are. I am not worried about Lion City.

“We will be coming to PE to get results, that’s all.”

Lion City media liaison officer Sydwell Temele said his team were not scared of the East London side’s threats.

“We will beat Tornado [tomorrow],” he said.

“The game we are worried about is that of FC Elliot and Subs. If Elliot win, they will be our biggest headache going forward.

“The Elliot we played against last weekend were a totally different team. They have done some reinforcements and brought in some Mthatha Bucks players.

“Even the coach is the former Bucks coach JD [Julius Dube] who won the league and the playoffs with Bucks.”

Temele said all the players were in good health and look- ing forward to tomorrow’s game.

“We will win this league and the playoff,” he said.

“We will play in the National First Division next season.

“That is what we are working towards achieving this season,” Temele said.

The league has decided that the last five league matches will be played simultaneously to avoid match-fixing.

Fixtures: Today (4pm): Future Tigers v Kokstad Liverpool, Highbury FC v Zimbane Killers, 6pm. Subs v FC Elliot, 8pm. Young Ideas v Morning Stars.

Tomorrow (3pm): Mthatha City v Emperors, EC Bees FC v FC Buffalo, Matta Milan v Blackburn Rovers, Lion City v Tornado.
