Trump’s grammar like that of a child

-

DONALD Trump is using grammar in his speeches that is normally employed by children aged 11 or younger, according to an academic analysis carried out in America.

The 69-year-old billionaire, whose “fromthe-hip” speaking style has catapulted him into a commanding lead in the race to be the Republican candidate for the Oval Office, has displayed less linguistic sophistication than either Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio, the Florida senator who dropped out of the race.

Rubio and Cruz used more sophisticated vocabulary, equivalent to that employed by students aged 13-16. They both used grammar akin to students aged 11 to 14 – as did the Democrat hopefuls, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, with Sanders said to use “more sophisticated language” than Clinton. .

The Independent reported that researchers from Carnegie Mellon University’s Language Technologies Institute analysed the speeches of the current presidential hopefuls and previous incumbents of the White House. – The Telegraph
