United should shine

All eyes in Nafa league on three teams tied in second place

WHILE Park United appear to be cruising ahead in the Nafa premier soccer league, the focus this weekend will be on the three teams tied in second place, five points behind the log-leaders. United play Fairview Rovers, who are just inside the top eight and, on current form, should pick up maximum points.

Champions Helenvale, second on goal difference, host Saints in Helenvale. Last week Helenvale were held to a 1-1 draw by Bloom Callies and could struggle again tomorrow.

Saints will be back in action on Sunday when they host Glenville, who were held to a surprise draw by Celtic last week.

Glenville are tied with Helenvale. They play Fairdene tomorrow and maximum points from their double-header will take them to within two points of the log-leaders.

Blackpool’s slide down the log continued last week last week when they went down 3-0 to Stardrift. They face a potentially difficult match against Celtic after their draw with Helenvale.

Stardrift, the best placed of the chasing pack, play Wolves, who are just a point behind them, on Sunday.

Fixtures: Tomorrow: Celtic v Blackpool (Dyke 2), Fairview Rovers v Park United (Finnis 2), Ebenezer v Bloom Callies (Gelvan 2), Booysens Pride v Westlake (Finnis 3), Fairdene v Glenville (Finnis 1), Helenvale v Saints (Helenvale) Sunday: Saints v Glenville (Saints), Stardrift v Wolves (Marock Road)

AFRICAN Aces and Mabayibone Strikers should continue their battle for the leader in the Wafa premier soccer league tomorrow.

Just one point separates the two frontrunners.

Aces play Young Brothers in the early match at the Walmer Community field, with Mabayibone playing Manchester United immediately afterwards.

Brothers have earned just three points this season, while United are only slightly better on nine points.

With just seven points separating the top eight teams, there should be several changes on the league table.

Morning Stars will most certainly lose third spot as they have a bye. Peace United and Walmer Stars, who are one point behind Stars, should have the beating of Ghetto Stars and Airport Valley City respectively.

Fixtures: Tomorrow: Umanyano v Brazil United, Young Brothers v African Aces, Mabayibone Strikers v Manchester United, Walmer Hotspurs v Airport Valley City, Popular v Ghetto Stars Sunday: Young Aces v Bayna Eagles, Popular v Brazil United, Airport Valley City v Walmer Stars, Ghetto Stars v Peace United, Real Madrid v Golden Heroes

AFTER two matches were called off last week due to a clash of colours and a lack of venues, Pefa Score premier league supporters will be hoping for a full programme this weekend.

It will be anybody’s game at The Valley this evening when Hearts host NMMU Madibaz.

The teams are tied in second place, five points behind Callies. Hearts have a match in hand.

Last week the students recovered from a twomatch losing streak to thrash Priory Shamrocks 5-1.

Hearts lost 4-2 to Callies, who play St George’s at the Union field tonight.

A draw between Hearts and Madibaz will suit Callies as they could extend their lead.

Fixtures: Tonight: Hearts v NMMU Madibaz (The Valley), St George’s v Callies (Union-Olympics) Tomorrow: Central Acemates v Leeds United (Victoria Park), Forresters v PE City (TBA), Priory Shamrocks v Mahle Old Grey (Priory)
