NELSON Mandela Bay mayoral candidate Danny Jordaan took to the streets of Rosedale yesterday with DA defector and Ward 48 councillor Kenneth Koll in a bid to win over voters who elected Koll when he stood as a DA candidate in 2011.

Jordaan also lashed out at the DA whose councillor candidate does not live in the area.

He said the DA candidate in the area was from Kleinskool and did not know the community of Ward 48 in Rosedale.

Jordaan was in the area for a door-to-door campaign and to introduce the ANC’s Ward 48 candidate, Brian Salters.

“We are very happy that our ward councillor is actually from this ward. Ward candidates must live in the wards. They should also be affected by the problems and challenges in their ward. We cannot talk about people’s governance if the people cannot find their representatives,” Jordaan said.

Koll said after 20 years in the DA he decided to join the ANC as he loved the manner in which Jordaan conducted himself in council.

“We have seen progress in the metro in the last 12 months. I have hope that with Jordaan as the mayor he will bring many changes to the metro that will benefit its people,” Koll said.

Bay DA campaign spokesman Kristoff Adelbert said there was nothing that prohibited candidates from standing in other wards.

"[The] ANC also had candidates standing in other wards. We have chosen a list of candidates who are entirely capable, determined and committed to bring change in their communities and also fight corruption," he said.
