Goals galore in Wafa Premier League matches

UMANYANO supporters finally had something to celebrate when the tailenders put their first points on the board by edging out fellow stragglers Young Brothers 3-2 in a Wafa Premier League match played at the Walmer Community field on Saturday.

And it rained goals in the league the following day – a total of 49 goals were scored in just seven matches on Sunday.

Golden Heroes, who thrashed Bayna Eagles 6-0 on Saturday, hammered Young Aces 7-0.

Walmer Hotspurs and Ghetto Stars both registered 11-0 victories, over Young Brothers and Gwala Stars respective­ly.

Real Madrid pitched in with a 7-0 drubbing of Brazil United.

And Walmer Stars and Popular shared the points in an eight-goal thriller.

After their win, Umanyano are level on points with Young Brothers, with both teams propping up the league table.

Morning Stars leap-frogged from fourth to second place, with an easy 3-0 win over Walmer Hotspurs.

Log-leaders African Aces saw off challenger­s Peace United, wining 2-0 to retain a threepoint lead.

In another battle of the tailenders, Young Aces scored only their third win of the season when they beat Manchester United 4-1.

CRYSTAL Palace scraped home to a close 2-1 win over struggling Young Tigers on Saturday to retain their place at the top of the Mofa Build It Premier League table.

Tigers trail the log leaders by 21 points.

In a top of the table clash, Tomorrow Stars beat Subs 2-1 and are now third, just a point behind Subs.

Following Subs’ defeat, Manchester United moved up to joint second, after beating Liverpool 4-2.

Highland Spurs, well placed to challenge the frontrunne­rs, beat FC Angels 4-2.

Young Madrid thrashed Shining Stars 3-0. In a battle of the tailenders, Real Aces and Motherwell United drew 1-1.

JUST two matches were played in the Pefa Score Premier League at the weekend.

Hearts scored in the dying seconds of the match to beat St Georges 1-0 while PE City and Leeds United drew 2-2.

With a water-logged field, the Priory Shamrocks and Forresters game was called off.

With Callies and NMMU Madibaz competing in the Rolihlahla Cup competitio­n, their matches against Mahale Old Grey and Central Acemates respective­ly were postponed.
