What sanctions imposed?

-

AFTER writing to The Herald several weeks ago (“What action taken against student?”, June 15) and waiting with bated breath for feedback, especially from the ANC, there has been no response to my request as to why only the white perpetrators of racism are constantly featured in the media and not the black perpetrators. Let me enlighten the readers once more and maybe we will get a response from these individuals.

Penny Sparrow was continually harassed in the media and still is, Vicki Momberg in her racist outburst was taken to task by the Human Rights Commission and the ANC.

She has appeared in court, been charged and more than likely will be made to pay a huge sum of money to some organisation of the court’s choice.

In February, an individual sitting in a dining hall at UCT, who was later found not to be a student, was seen and photographed wearing a T-shirt with “Kill all whites” printed on the back. This not only is racist but incites violence towards all whites, and to date nothing has been done about it.

Now we have EFF candidate Thabo Mabotja saying “all whites should be hacked and cut up”. The EFF say it has suspended him, but too late, his message has already been sent out.

I now ask the question: will the authorities do anything to this individual or the EFF for this comment that is more than racist, but an incitement to violence and genocide? Will someone out there please enlighten us, the South African citizens, if anything has been done about these charges and if so what charges were made and what was the punishment, because to date we have not seen or heard any thing?

Again I am waiting with bated breath.
