Games debut for phone dropping
RIO really is hosting the modern Olympics as Frenchman Enzo Lefort showed by dropping his phone during a fencing competition.
The embarrassing moment came during his individual foil clash with Germany’s Peter Joppich in Rio.
Unbelievably, Lefort had his phone tucked into his back pocket.
But in the heat of battle it came loose and tumbled to the floor as the two fencers tangled up close.
Lefort quickly picked up the device and passed it to a man in the crowd, hoping nobody would notice. But TV cameras captured the slip.
Lefort went on to lose the match 15-13.
He will appear again in a team event later in the week – hopefully remembering to leave his phone in the changing room.
