WHAT Riordan has– both happenedvery quietto Danny suddenly? Jordaan and Rory

READER DANNY Jordaan was heard to say he would not vacate the mayor’s position because he was put there by the ANC. That led me to post the query about Jordaan described as the outgoing mayor while voting (“Where are you now, Danny Jordaan?”, August 8). Thank you, the editor, the response was enlightening.

NOW Mr Galloway, Mr Myburgh and Mr Troon, why so quiet guys? Go DA!

GP D R Galloway (“Congratulations on metro victory”, August 9), go back to school and learn how percentages work. Your beloved ANC ravaged this once prosperous metro. Good riddance ANC. We had enough of your lies and false promises.

F J ROTHNER WHY RESCUE PACKAGE BEFORE ELECTIONS?

WHY, after months of issues regarding EP Rugby, does the ANC-run municipality decide to “donate” R20-million of our taxpayers’ money just before the elections (“Rescue package puts EP Kings back in business”, August 5)? Can Danny Jordaan explain this? Was he hoping for more votes from rugby supporters?

SHAWSHANK GIVE OFFICERS USEFUL WORK TO DO WHILE driving to town on Monday morning on the freeway just next to North End Prison I noticed two traffic vehicles with blue flashing lights and also a taxi nearby, and I thought that they were writing the taxi guy a ticket. To my surprise, the traffic officials and the taxi guy were slaughtering a cow next to the road. I think maybe it was hit by a car. I mean it’s 7.45am and it’s still busy on the roads, and I am thinking, “Don’t these guys have anything to do?” It was one car from our metro traffic department and one from the province. I beg Athol Trollip to make these traffic officials useful as they have nothing to do.

COW cut up. Indeed good recycling. Hopefully it will feed some.

B GUERRA WHO’S TO BLAME FOR LATE ACCOUNTS? LATE municipal accounts (“Municipal accounts not yet received”, August 3): Monday was August 8, the day I received my municipal account which was due and payable by August 2. Who is to blame for the late receipt of the account, the municipality or the SA Post Office? Hopefully the guilty party will be liable for the interest due to the late payment of the account. Just asking!

R VACZI, HUMEWOOD, PORT ELIZABETH TAKE ACTION AGAINST RUDE TAXIS

SOMETHING must be done about the rude taxis in Cottrell Street, especially near the Mercantile Hospital.

MOTORIST

MAGICAL AFTERNOON OF MUSIC NMMU concert on Sunday: among a full house of music lovers, I was privileged to experience a magical afternoon of great jazz and the world premiere of what I found to be a deeply moving symphony by Prof Ed Sarath. Heartiest congratulations to all concerned.

SAGITTARIUS SABC

SO the SABC boss needs four bodyguards. No doubt paid with TV licence money! Is he afraid of old grannies because of Days of our Lives being dropped?

JAN BOCEK SABC, please bring back Dr Phil at the time it used to be at, 12.30 or 12 noon. It would be highly appreciated.

MONA SHAKE UP TRAFFIC, LICENSING DEPARTMENTS

HOPE our new mayor lights some fires in the traffic and licensing departments. Also no contractual appointments which in the past so often ended in “golden handshakes”. Let’s start with a clean slate. Every employee needs to know exactly what is expected of him. Enough ANC shenanigans! Clean and above board governance please.

RICHARD, CHARLO, PORT ELIZABETH
