The sheriff is back in town

AN exciting but tricky double header awaits punters at Fairview tomorrow.

Races 4 and 5 both have prize money of R94 000 and will be run over 1 400m and 2 400m respectively.

Race 4 is wide open as course specialists Gogetthesheriff and Red Barrel, Sir Duke, Line Break, Readytogorightnow, Ochonocar, Rebel House and Briar King all have excellent winning chances. And then four-time winner Kingvoldt and 50-1 outsider Acapulco cannot be underestimated.

However, Gogetthesheriff looks ready for his 12th career win from 30 starts. The six-year-old son of Go Deputy had excuses last time when finishing 3,85 lengths behind True Master over 1 600m. He lost two lengths and his rider also dropped his crop.

Ryan Munger takes over from Wayne Agrella for owner Freddie van Onselen.

Sir Duke is ultra-consistent and should have a say in the finish. In his last race he was badly baulked at the 400m mark, resulting in a fifth position, 3,45 lengths behind Villa Del Largo.

Red Barrel and Line Break both pose a huge danger. Red Barrel’s last run was disappointing, but he is a far better horse than that outcome suggests. Craig Zackey takes over the ride from Raymond Danielson and they will jump from gate No 8.

Line Break, who will have Grant van Niekerk up for Candice Robinson, had a poor debut at Fairview on June 18, but a much better performance is expected this time. He is a four-time winner from 16 starts.

In the final analysis the vote goes to Gogetthesheriff to lead home Sir Duke, Red Barrel and Line Break.

Race 5 only has seven runners, but Oh So Modus, Silver Image, Simmering, Silver Matador and Emblem Honour all have winning chances.

However, Oh So Modus should be hard to beat. He has proved himself over this trip and in better company and will take a power of beating. Muzi Yeni takes over the ride from Zackey for the Renate du Plessis stable.

Silver Image, who will have Zackey up for the Tara Laing yard, is seeking a hat-trick of wins and is by no means out of it. He rates a massive chance if he runs to his ability. Silver Matador, a former Gauteng charge, will make his PE debut with good form and needs to be respected.

Racing starts at 1300 with a work riders Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1 000m.
