Contenders tighten race for Wafa title

THE race for the Wafa Premier League title continued at the weekend with all the leading contenders winning their matches.

Mabayibone Strikers retained their one-point lead with a surprising­ly easy 4-0 win over Popular.

African Aces thrashed Walmer Hotspurs 6-1 to remain on Strikers’ tail.

Morning Stars remain third following a hard-earned 3-2 win over struggling Airport Valley City.

Airport Valley United came close to causing the upset of the weekend, going down 2-1 to highly ranked Peace United.

Meanwhile, Umanyano scored only their second win of the season when they beat Eleven Experience 1-0 to move away from the bottom of the log for the first time.

Young Brothers, who were thrashed 4-1 by Gwala Stars, are now at the bottom of the log.
