Penalties the key in two cup clashes

TWO of the three Safa-NMB Regional Mayoral Cup matches played at the Gelvandale Stadium on Sunday ended in penalty shootouts.

Nubs and City Style drew 0-0 before Nubs advanced to the last eight 5-3.

Royal Bucks and Park United drew 1-1 before Bucks won 5-3 on penalties.

In the third match, Seven United gave Callies a 5-1 thrashing.

The quarterfin­als will be played at the NU9 and Zwide Stadiums this evening.

In the U13 boys division played at the Jubilee fields in Uitenhage, just one of the seven matches ended in penalties.

New City Stars beat Glenville 3-0 after the match ended at 0-0.

In the U15 division, three of the seven matches ended in penalties.

Young Ideas (Mofa) beat Hotspurs 5-3 after they were tied at 0-0.

New City Stars beat African Chiefs 5-4 after the match ended 1-1.

In the third match to be decided on penalties, Young Ideas (Kuyga) beat Young Ideas (Mofa) 5-4 after the match ended 1-1.
