Double trouble (times three) at Summerwood Primary
EXCITED Grade 1s at a Summerstrand school saw double yesterday when no fewer than three sets of twins arrived for their first day of big school.
Summerwood Primary School said hello to Plawu and Simalo Nobatyi, Olivia and Rachel Mowbray, and Lilly and Oliver Jopson – all aged six.
Excitement, enthusiasm and curiosity filled the air as the little ones could not wait to get the day started.
Lilly and Oliver were one twosome who were more than eager to speak up about their day and what they were looking forward to the most.
Asked whether they were excited, Lilly said: “Of course!”
Oliver, on the other hand, was more concerned about not getting in his teacher’s bad books, as he had earlier seen one of the teachers reprimanding senior pupils about their socks.
“I really don’t want to make my teachers cross.
“I don’t want them to say to me: ‘Pull up your socks, pull up your socks!’
“So I’m going to be good,” he said.
Oliver also mentioned that he had an interest in being a radio presenter one day.
“When I grow up, I am going to work at Algoa FM.
“That’s the best place ever,” he said,
The twins also said their favourite activities were reading and sums.
Oliver specifically mentioned that he likes to count to a thousand.
These interests will no doubt serve them well in their future school careers.
Summerwood Primary principal William Foaden only had positive things to say about the day.
“Overall, [yesterday] was a success.
“I can only say that because of the thorough planning that we as educators have been doing since December, everyone was on the same boat.
“The kids and their parents knew almost everything – even a minor detail like where to park.
“We made sure to prepare everyone equally.”
