Chippa off to great start in Pefa league

-

THE weekend’s Pefa Score Premier League action started with Hearts dishing out a 4-1 beating to St Georges at the Union/ Olympics Field on Thursday.

Friday night was a source of much excitement at the Westbourne Oval where Chippa United exercised their authority with an 8-1 drubbing of NMBM.

Chippa have started the league in sensational fashion and already the smart money will be on them to win the league in their first season at the highest level.

In the other match on Friday, NMMU Madibaz tackled Central Acemates at the south campus with the visitors securing an excellent 1-0 victory.

Saturday saw four fixtures take place with one postponed due to the unsatisfactory surface at Bridgemead.

Central Acemates recorded their second win of the weekend beating PE Home Rovers 2-0 at Kemsley Park.

Rising Stars suffered a 5-1 thumping by Mahle Old Grey at Old Grey Sports Club.

Goals by Ayanda Tshanga, Nkosinathi Speelman and Zithulele Mhlontlo (2), plus an own goal, sealed the three points for Old Grey.

The derby at EP Command saw PE Defence take on Forresters. This feisty encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.

The same score was recorded at Union/Olympics where St Georges battled to a draw against Callies.

The Callies cause was not helped by ill discipline, which saw them reduced to nine players after being issued with two red cards.

Sunday saw PE Defence welcome Highbury to EP Command, the visitors coming away with a 3-2 victory.

The second game of the day saw PE Home Rovers host Leeds United – again the score was 3-2 against the hosts.

Chippa United have notched three wins for nine points to top the log by three points. They also already boast a goal difference of 14.

The rest of the top five, all on six points, are Highbury, Old Grey, Leeds United and Central Acemates.
