Victoria Park too strong for Port Alfred

VICTORIA Park boys hockey first team cruised to a convincing victory against Port Alfred at the weekend.

After a slow start during which Port Alfred conceded a single goal, the floodgates opened.

The second half saw VP slot a further seven goals, bringing the final score to 8-0.

VP’s U16 boys continued the trend with a hardfought 3-0 victory over Port Alfred.

The girls first hockey team had to work hard to beat Port Alfred. VP suffered a few setbacks due to injury, but despite this still managed to win 2-0.

The future looks bright for U16A girls hockey at VP with the team beating Port Alfred 8-1.

The VP U14A girls got their derby season off to a good start, drawing 2-2.

Port Alfred’s first rugby team visited their VP counterpar­ts at the weekend.

VP overwhelme­d the visitors to lead 33-0 at half time.

The home side played to their strengths and structures and Port Alfred could not maintain the pressure of VP’s attack.

Port Alfred managed a very late penalty, but the full-time score was 76-3.

Right wing Bulumko Blouw scored three tries while No 8 Kelvin Kanenungo managed to score four tries.

The U15s won 31-5 with the 2nd team posting a 71-6 victory.

VP’s netball players also took on Port Alfred at the weekend.

Despite all the teams losing narrowly, players and coaches look forward to building on the experience.

The U19B girls must be credited for their hardfought 9-9 draw.

In squash, Framesby beat VP 10-6 in a third league clash, while VP won their fifth league encounter 9-8.
