NO SPECIAL TREATMENT FOR PASTORS
“THEY think they live in Mugabe-land these people arresting a pastor with guns” (The Herald, April 21). Why not say “America”? Police in the US are heavily armed and trigger-happy! Do you mean that pastors should be given special treatment? That a lawyer should expect to pre-arrange an “interview” with the SAPS instead of handcuffs if the suspect or accused happens to be a pastor? SCREWTAPE
ODDS OF ZUMA STEPPING DOWN

WHO REALLY RUNS SA?
WHO really runs South Africa? I doubt very much that it’s Zuma who is at the head of all this mess. It was seriously morally wrong to have a midnight meeting. This seems to be bizarrely dishonourable. JP
RECORD NUMBER OF GRADUATES
IT would seem that after weeks and weeks of student demonstrations, frequently violent, including damage to property, NMMU had a record number of graduates. Here is a suggestion. Reduce the university year by two months and we will once again have a record number of graduates, this time without the demonstrations. RICHARD, SUMMERSTRAND
