Young, old display hot form at race day

-

THERE was a good turnout of young and old bikers at the Regional Race Day at the Algoa Kart and Motorcycle Club last Saturday.

The short circuit motorcycle races saw the “Team Toppies” competing together with young riders in a “big versus little” challenge.

The CBR150cc Club Championship is growing in popularity among riders and spectators alike.

Despite it being a cold and windy morning the turnout was good and four new riders entering the championship stakes.

No stranger to motorcycle enthusiasts, Arushen Moodley took on his son, Ruché Moodley, who at age 10 rode in his first motorcycle race.

Arushen took line honours in all three races, closely chased by Ashton Heidemann, 12, who has been putting in practice laps every weekend. This young rider’s perseverance paid off on race day.

Neill Harran, from the South African Motorcycle Racing Academy, visited the circuit to support the riders. The Honda NSF 100cc motorcycles were provided by Harran and he was pleased to see how the training was paying off.

The NSF riders did three sets of parade laps and proudly showed off their skills.

Results:

1. Arushen Moodley 2. Ashton Heidemann 3. Jordan Breakspear 4. Connor Breakspear 5. Ruché Moodley 6. Glenn Elliott 7. Aaron Heideman 8. William Kew
