NMMU A get one up on Londt Park

WITH Londt Park A missing top player Rudi van Niekerk, champions NMMU A registered an important win over their close rivals in the Eastern Province men’s first squash league on Tuesday.

The 9-5 result takes the varsity side to the top of the log, but there is plenty to play for because their lead is only three points.

Londt Park had a more than adequate replacement in Greg la Mude.

The former touring professional and SA champion is not a regular league player but has lost little of his skill and proved too good for NMMU’s Dwain Dodd.

However, solid wins by the remaining NMMU players – Jason le Roux, Gershwin Forbes and Johan Thiel – gave them the honours on the night.

In the women’s league, logleaders Crusaders A were given a tough workout by Londt Park B, who won two of the four matches.

Di Schultz and Bianka la Mude won for Saders A, while the games picked up by Anlen Murray and Kathy Hoy allowed them to edge home 8-6.

After Londt Park A proved too good for NMMU A, winning 9-3, this means that Saders A will take a 10-point lead over the holders into the second half.
