Thanks to all who are helping fire victims

-

THANKS to all the businesses and private people for helping the victims of the disastrous fires in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

But where is our government aid? No news of declaring these areas a disaster area to get funds to help these people in need.

Come on, how long do you have to take to mobilise government help? Help is needed immediately.

Lynn Lister, Port Elizabeth

AS many organisations are praised for the work done in organising and collecting goods for those people of the Southern Cape who have lost so much, one has quietly gone about its work helping and collecting donations.

The members of Round Table, particularly the members of Knysna 59 and George 30, have opened up their clubhouses for anyone in need of assistance or a place to stay. All this while their own properties were at risk of being destroyed.

They have done an excellent job and make us all proud to be Tablers.

Other tables in the association around South Africa have raised thousands of rands and truckloads of goods for distribution. You make me proud to have been part of such a wonderful organisation.

Fabrizio Altichiero, RTSA past president ON the day the fire started, I contacted Jason Grobbelaar to offer the use of 25 000l flexible tanks for the transporting of water to the fire engines. We contacted Stu and Patrick from Stu Davidson and Sons Plant Hire Company and Paul de Villiers from EC Traffic Services Company, who immediately sent their water trucks and provided the tipper trucks we needed.

Please join us in thanking them for offering, without hesitation, their vehicles, drivers and themselves, to assist.
