Exciting goals in derby day for Pefa juniors

CALLIES hosted St George’s at Londt Park in exciting action for the bragging rights in the first PE Football Associatio­n Juniors derby day between the clubs at the weekend.

The St George’s U8 Braveheart­s got the ball rolling by beating Callies Rievers 4-0.

Ovayo Jack (2), Aya Qashani and Denis Heasley scored the goals for the Braveheart­s.

In an U8A game, the St George’s Dragons beat the Callies Warriors 4-1, with Kamva Mrwadi finding the net twice.

In the U10 league, unbeaten log leaders Callies Highlander­s had to work hard for a 2-2 draw against fifth-placed St George’s Aces, for whom Bradley Myburgh and Jason Archibald found the back of the net.

The Callies U12A team drew first blood in the older age groups with a 2-0 win over St George’s, to secure their position at the top of the log.

But St George’s took revenge in the B team game, with comfortabl­e 4-0 win. Mbasa Jack scored a brace.

In a match that could have gone either way, the U14A teams ground out a hardfought 2-2 draw. St George’s scored the equaliser in the last minute of the encounter.

In the U14B match, Daniel Corbett scored a hat-trick for St George’ s to help his team to a 6-0 triumph.

The spoils were split in the U16 and U18 games, with Callies U16 taking the honours 2-1 and St George’s U18 winning by the same margin.

In another derby, Hearts and Priory faced off at The Valley, with Hearts emerging as the stronger club.

Log leaders Hearts Warriors continued their unbeaten record in the U8 section with a 2-1 victory over club colleagues Hearts All Stars.

Both the Hearts Warriors’ goals came from Trent Smith.

The Hearts Sweetheart­s girls team beat the Priory Chargers 2-0, with goals by Sienna Peens and Katelyn van Jaarsveld.

In the U10 league, Hearts Eagles and Priory Pirates played to an exciting 4-4 draw, with Eagles players Logan Groch and Drey Jantjies each scoring a brace.

Liam Bird and Ruben van Eyk scored for Priory Saints in a 2-0 victory over the Hearts Hawks.

The Hearts Lads remain unbeaten after a 3-1 win over Priory All Stars, with star striker Oliver Martin scoring another wonderful brace.

In the U12 division, Hearts A had a comfortabl­e win over Priory, with Ben Peens scoring off a volley from 20m out.

Griffin Pappin managed to pull one back for Priory.

The KwaDwesi All Stars U14 side thumped Hearts 6-1.

However, Hearts had their revenge in the U16 game, beating KwaDwesi 5-2.

Mikhail Etto and Ajay Ah Shene each scored a brace for Hearts.

In other weekend action, the NMMU U16 and U18 sides won their games against Forresters and Highbury respective­ly, while Motherwell Academy U18 beat KwaDwesi 2-0 in a close clash at Kemsley Park.
