Organisers want full stadium for match

- George Byron

TICKETS for the Springboks versus Argentina rugby test at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium have gone on sale, and organisers want a capacity 45 000 crowd to attend the clash on August 19.

Last year, 42 000 fans watched the Boks beat Ireland 19-13 in Port Elizabeth, and South Africa will be defending an unbeaten record at the stadium.

In previous games at the stadium, the Boks beat the All Blacks and Scotland and drew with England.

“Nelson Mandela Bay has a special charm, so there is no doubt the stories people take back are about how friendly and hospitable the city is,” stadium manager Mpho Mokonyama said.

“Fans can now purchase tickets to the thrill-a-minute rugby test match from the affordable price of R75 to R500.

“As the largest single metro asset, we encourage people to make active use of this asset, either as an events venue or as a place to have exhilarating sporting experiences,” he said.

Tickets to this rugby championship can be purchased from any participating Ticketpro Outlets, including the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’s ticket office, or Tickepro online.

After the Port Elizabeth test, the Springboks will be in action in Argentina the following weekend.

The Boks’ traditional tour to Australasia is in early September for matches against the Wallabies (September 9, NIB Stadium in Perth) and the All Blacks (September 16, QBE Stadium in Albany).
