THANDO MANANA SHINES ON HIS NIGHT

Manana shines on his night

IHAD one of those amazingly awesome weekends that you wish you could press the repeat button for – and do it all over again. Last Saturday, I supported the people of Uitenhage by attending the Uitenhage High School “high tea” at the VW People Pavilion, where its alumni raised funds for their bursary programme for deserving and underprivileged students.

The alumni revealed they’d already raised a whopping R400 000. Well done to them – also on hosting a beautiful afternoon.

Afterwards I checked out the new movie Spider-Man Homecoming on IMAX at Baywest. I loved the movie and how they switched the races of the main characters such as Mary-Jane Watson and The Flash.

On Sunday one of my minions hot-footed it to Joburg to attend The Voice SA finals where Craig Lucas was announced the winner of the singing competition. The likes of Sophie Ndaba, Terry Pheto and Victor Matfield were in attendance. Skinner’s source said it was a spectacular event with booze and food in abundance, though the chicken biryani did not taste anything like chicken biryani.

On Tuesday I was lucky enough to attend Thando Manana's launch for his book, Being A Black Springbok, at the Opera House.

The host, Robert Marawa, looked dapper and confident. You’d never have known he was recently relieved of his long-time gig at Metro FM. The event started 40 minutes late and although there were celebrities around (who never expect to pay for anything) drinks were on sale.

Manana is a great storyteller but did go on and on. To be honest Skinnerbek did not mind, since it’s been a while since I was surrounded by such fineness.

Until next time darlings, ciao for now!
