Highbury eye new scores feast

- Mogan Segadavan

HIGHBURY could go on another goal-scoring spree this weekend when they play NMMU Madibaz in a Safa-NMB women’s league A stream soccer fixture.

The log leaders were in rampant form last week, scoring 13 goals as they thrashed PE United 8-1 and Shatterprufe 5-0.

The students play Shatterprufe tomorrow and, with a 10-point lead over their opponents, will start as favourites.

African Chiefs, who scored an easy 5-2 win over Warriors last week, will expect another easy pay day when they play Tomorrow Stars, the only team in the league without a point.

With one point between them, the match between Kubs and Hearts will be keenly contested.

Kubs will be back in action on Sunday against Warriors.

In the B stream, Dower United should become the log leaders, even if it is just for the day, when they play struggling Rainbow Stars tomorrow.

With Walmer Ladies, Rainbow have not picked up any points yet, while Dower trail Golden Stars by two points.

Golden will be in action against Park United on Sunday.

Zwide All Stars, who are level with Golden on points but trail on goal difference, host Volcano at the Zwide Stadium, with the smart money on Zwide.

The fixtures are: Tomorrow A stream: Shatterprufe v NMMU Madibaz (Dower College), Kubs v Hearts (Stinging Bees) B stream: Dower United v Rainbow Stars (Dower College) Sunday A stream: PE United v Shatterprufe (Stinging Bees), Tomorrow Stars v African Chiefs (NU2 Stadium), Highbury v NMMU (NMMU South Campus), Warriors v Kubs (Stinging Bees) B stream: Dower United v Walmer Ladies (Dower College), Zwide All Stars v Volcano (Zwide Stadium), Young Aces v Kuyga Ladies (KwaDwesi), Rainbow Stars v Bodene (Booysens Park), Golden Stars v Park United (Dower College)
