Chippa juniors beat Motherwell Academy 2-1

THE second half of the PE Football Associatio­n junior season got under way on Sunday after the mid-year break.

In a top-of-the-table clash in the U18 league, Chippa United beat Motherwell Academy 2-1.

The 14-year-old Thando Jacobs opened the scoring for Chippa, but the Motherwell players fought back and were rewarded with an equaliser just before the break.

However, their joy was short-lived as Onwabile Booi found the back of the net in the second half from a free kick to put Chippa back in front.

Callies and KwaDwesi All Stars played to a 1-1 draw, with Daniel Gray scoring for Callies, while Debonairs Pizza St George’s and NMU drew 2-2.

This saw Chippa moving into top spot on the log with 17 points, with Motherwell on 14 points.

In the U16 league, the unbeaten Callies side defeated St George’s Braves 3-1, while NMU beat St George’s Aces 4-1.

In the U12 league, fourth-placed Hearts put in a strong effort to beat log-leaders Callies 4-2.

In other key matches, Forresters beat St George’s 3-1, while Motherwell Academy beat Priory 2-1. This places Callies, Forresters and Motherwell level at the top of the log on 12 points each. Forresters have the edge on goal difference.

In the U10 age group, Hearts Lads moved into top position with a 2-1 win over Callies Thistles. Oliver Martin scored both Hearts’ goals.

St George’s Aces beat Priory All Stars 4-2, with Jayson Archibald and Matt Bowman netting two goals each for St George’s. Mathew Ladds scored twice for Priory.

Carlo Moolman and Jordan Vermaak scored a goal each for Priory City in their 2-1 win over St George’s Supernovas.

In the U8 league, unbeaten log-leaders Hearts Gladiators recorded their 11th consecutiv­e win, beating Callies Warriors 4-0.

Callies Claymores beat Motherwell Academy 3-1, with Trent Barnardo scoring a hat-trick for Callies.

St George’s Dragons beat Priory Warriors 5-0 with a hat-trick by Kamva Mrwadi and a brace by Jack Daniel.

Enzo Kruger scored four times for Priory Chiefs in their 6-1 victory over Hearts Tigers.
