Blaauw aims to regain form

-

JACQUES Blaauw admits he has been struggling with form in the United States, where he plays on the Web.com Tour, but is hopeful returning to the Sishen Golf Club, where he is defending the Vodacom Origins of Golf title he won there last year, will mark his return to good form.

“I’ve been struggling this year just hitting the greens – the greens are so firm in the States,” Blaauw said. “The thing, is you can’t hold the ball on the green. I missed a lot of greens.

“But I’m coming here to good memories so, hopefully, that will come through this week.”

He will hope those memories will inspire the kind of form that saw him win at Sishen last year in a dramatic playoff against Theunis Spangenberg.

“I love it here,” he said. “And coming to play here after a while is special because I get to see the boys and everybody.” Blaauw will be making his first start of the season on the Sunshine Tour and said he was looking forward to a good week, and one that would possibly deliver him a much-needed win to turn things around for him.

“I feel like I’m playing better and I hope the scores will be good,” Blaauw said.

“I feel like my driving is good and I’m putting better.

“It feels good to be back home, but I need to start making some cash out here so, hopefully, this week will be a good start for me.”
