Money to be made on the Fairview card

- Herald Racing Editor

THERE are several attractive bets at Fairview tomorrow.

Yvette Bremner-trained Seattle Affair will take a lot of beating when he represents the yard in a Maiden Plate over 1 200m on the Polytrack. The son of Sail From Seattle ran a decent race on debut when third behind Dickensian over 1 000m. He returns from a rest and should be fresh.

Even though she is a fiveyear-old maiden, Equestris, trained by Grand Paddock, could be the runner to beat in Race 2. She is a daughter of Lateral will have Louis Mxothwa in the saddle.

Trainer Gavin Smith could have the edge with Close To My Heart in Race 3. Jockey JP van der Merwe could get her out of the maidens if she finishes better this time.

Race 4 is the main event of the day, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1 400m.

Punters can hardly go wrong with a bet on Afrikaburn. The son of Trippi is in good form and seems ready for a fifth career win.

He is owned by Fred Crabbia whose horses win regularly in Port Elizabeth. He also has the benefit of jumping from No 2 draw and has Danielson up for the Justin Snaith stable looks to be the horse to beat.

However, seven-year-old Gogetthesheriff had a decent run last time over 1200m when a 2.95-length fifth behind Favour’s Pride following a six-month break and should prefer the extra 200m. He needs to be included in Swingers and Place bets.

Seattle Swing and Pyramus are set for a massive duel in Race 5 over 1 900m and as a result, it worth taking Swingers with the pair.

In Race 6 Rock Me Var seems to be good value with Raymond Danielson up for the Dorrie Sham yard. The son of Var is in good form and needs to be respected. At odds of around 8-1 he has an excellent chance.

A lot is expected of Our Destiny, formerly trained by Glen Kotzen, in Race 7. She makes her debut for trainer Alan Greeff and comes to Fairview with four wins from 19 outings.

With Aldo Domeyer in the irons she could win her first local race for owners Messrs J Rey, RJ Rixon & Mrs V Rixon.

If Our Destiny does not run to her ability her stablemate, Oklahoma Sky, could be the right one.

In the last race of the day Silva Key is looking for a third consecutive win but can expect strong opposition from Meritocracy.

Race 1 is off at 1310 with a Maiden Plate over 1 200m.
