Madibaz 1 get off the mark with two weekend victories

MADIBAZ 1 enjoyed a successful start to their campaign, winning both their NMB Premier League cricket matches with ease at the weekend.

On Saturday, they beat PECC on the Duckworth-Lewis method, having dismissed PECC for only 103. Kyle Jacobs and Odwa Xonxa took three wickets apiece, while Eddie Moore made 58 in the run-chase.

Yesterday, they held Motherwell to 153 all out, before reaching their target with only seven wickets down.

Mechatroni­c Uitenhage registered a good win, beating Seaman’s Renault Old Grey by six wickets.

Uitenhage rolled their visitors for 95 and had little trouble chasing them down with 35 overs to spare.

At Dan Qeqe, on Saturday, defending champions Jendamark United got their campaign off to a winning start comfortabl­y, beating SA Home Loans Union by seven wickets.

Chasing 191 for victory, Riaan Jeggels top-scored with an unbeaten 71, while Lionel Vaaltyn had a good allround game, scoring 56 not out and taking three wickets. Earlier, Jonty Nel made 57 for Union.

Gelvandale had little trouble dispatchin­g Schaudervi­lle by 122 runs. Jarryd Lookwhy and Roswin Masimela both made half-centuries, and Fabian Jantjies made 52 for Schaudervi­lle.

United Brothers made it two wins in as many matches, beating Madibaz 2 by seven wickets at the campus yesterday.
