Bittersweet night for Clegg
JUST hours before he takes to stage for possibly his last concert in Johannesburg‚ veteran musician Johnny Clegg said he was anticipating a night filled with emotion tomorrow.
“I’m a Joburg boy – this has been my hometown since the age of seven.
“These are the people – and this has been the course of my life,” he said. “It’s going to be a bittersweet night.” The legendary 64-year-old musician has said the Final Journey World Tour would be his last major performance before retirement – with a final performance in Johannesburg being added because of an overwhelming demand from his fans.
The TicketPro Dome concert features star acts like Prime Circle‚ The Parlotones, Karen Zoid and the Soweto Gospel Choir. Although they had sung for global audiences, the Soweto Gospel Choir was looking forward most to performing with Clegg, the group said.
