PROVINCIAL bosses of the DA met leaders of the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders in Mthatha yesterday in a bid to garner community support and forge relations with royals ahead of the 2019 general election.

DA provincial leader Nqaba Bhanga, Bhisho Legislature leader Bobby Stevenson, MPLs Sanele Magaqa and Nosimo Balindlela and provincial spokesman Mlindi Nhanha met the newly elected traditional leaders executive committee, led by Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyana.

Bhanga said it was customary for a group of leaders to be introduced to the traditional rulers to develop and build relationships.

Nonkonyana and Nkosi Langa Mavuso, who are chairman and deputy chairman of the group and also Contralesa, said the manner in which the DA had dealt with the imprisonment of AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo – terminating his DA membership after his conviction – left traditional leaders fuming.
