FORMER Orlando Pirates left wing Maselealo Seanego is looking to add value to the Chippa United camp after receiving a short-term contract with the Port Elizabeth outfit.

The 23-year-old, from Wattville in Gauteng, has signed a six-month contract with the Chilli Boys with the option to renew the deal.

Shakes, as he is affectionately known, is a product of Kaizer Chiefs’ development programme and has had a stint at Golden Arrows. He has not had much game time in recent seasons and is determined to revive his football career at the Chilli Boys.

“I see this as an opportunity to revive my career with one of the fastestgrowing football brands in the country,” he said.

“I trained with Chippa before the start of last season, but the move did not materialise back then.

“I would like to thank chairman Siviwe Mpengesi for affording me the opportunity to be a Chilli Boy.

“I am grateful to the coach and his technical team, and of course the players, for the manner in which they have welcomed me.”

Seanego signed a first-team contract with the Buccaneers in 2013, but was immediately loaned out to Golden Arrows. He also recently played for First Division outfit, Royal Eagles.

“I am grateful to have had an opportunity with Pirates. When I returned to them in July last year we had a mutual agreement to part ways.”

He has reunited with former teammates Zitha Macheke and Menzi Masuku and hopes to reignite the chemistry he shared with them.

He has also featured for the junior national teams and is positive Chippa are headed in the right direction.

“I played with Zitha [Macheke] at Chiefs development and I was also with Menzi [Masuku] and some other guys at Pirates.

“I know Paseka Mako as we played against each other at school level.

“We are united towards one goal, to do well this season and qualify for Caf competition.”

“The vibe in the team is good and conducive for us to do really well.

“I want to be part of history here and I want to be part of the first generation to win our Friendly City supporters a trophy.”

“We can achieve this with hard work and determination.

“I am now working hard to regain my confidence and this has been made easy here at Chippa as I am familiar with most of the guys,” he said.

Seanego has started training with the team and travelled with them to Johannesburg for the match against Ajax Cape Town, but has not been part of the lineup yet. BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic and SuperSport United played to a 1-1 draw in the final Absa Premiership match of the year, at the Dr Molemela Stadium last night.

Phunya Sele Sele claimed a first-half lead through Victor Letsoalo, but Matsatsantsa hit back in the second half through debutant Darren Smith.

The result saw the hosts move to sixth place and the visitors remain in 11th place.

Celtic were the more enterprising team through the first half, and they nearly claimed the lead 11 minutes into the game when Ndumiso Mabena fired off a shot from the edge of the area, only to be denied by goalkeeper Riyaad Pieterse.

The subsequent corner kick produced another effort from the hosts, with Mpho Maruping getting on the end of the set piece delivery, though his glancing header flashed just wide of the far post.

In the 15th minute, Celtic were rewarded for their positive play, with Mabena providing a perfectly weighted through ball to find the run of Victor Letsoalo, who easily rounded Pieterse before tucking the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0.

United created little in reply, with their only notable attacking effort in the first half seeing Thuso Phala controlling a ball in the penalty area, but any hopes of getting a shot away were quickly crushed by Celtic keeper Patrick Tignyemb.

SuperSport were better after the break, but continued to be frustrated by a disciplined Celtic defence.

Aubrey Modiba fired over the target just before the hour mark, while a short while later Jeremy Brockie saw a goal-bound effort stymied by Tignyemb.

In the 73rd minute, Modiba provided a fantastic cross from the left and the lively Brockie put his header just wide of the far post.

But a couple of minutes later the left-back sent in another great ball and this time substitute Smith converted with his head for a debut goal to make it 1-1.
