Chilli Boys face tough task

CHIPPA United’s reserve side have suffered a setback after a horrific MultiChoice Diski Challenge 4-0 loss to Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein last week.

The Bay team appeared to have found their mojo when they hammered Cape Town City 5-0 last month.

Their defence and inconsistent decisionmaking outside the penalty box cost them dearly against Celtic.

Glen Minnie’s charges are now facing the tough task of ensuring that the team finishes in a respectable position, better than their current 14th place with just 12 matches to go before season’s end.

“It was disappointing for us to lose an away fixture like that,” Minnie said.

“We knew it would be difficult, but we could have done a whole lot better.

“We need to work even harder if we want to achieve our goal of finishing strongly in the MDC competition.

“Our dream is still in sight. We just need to make sure we prepare ourselves better for the upcoming games.

“We do not want to see ourselves trying to get out of the relegation zone when it is crunch time.”

The Chilli Boys are on 12 log points with just three wins, seven losses and three draws after seven matches. A win could see them climb to 10th. They next travel to face Baroka, who have also been struggling.
