Exciting Fairview Polytrack racing on the cards after rain

- Punters’ Pal

AFTER a little bit of rain during the week, the Fairview Polytrack should be cherry ripe to produce nine very fast races today.

The poly surface seems to be at its best after some rain – and there are exciting races to look forward to.

The three-year-old fillies top the bill, as they contest in the Breeders Guineas Plate. This should be a very interesting affair. Cape Town trainer Justin Snaith is playing his part to ensure a competitive Breeders Guineas Plate race.

The Snaith stable will be saddling Bid Before Sunset and Ma Forte. Both must be included in all bets.

Cloud Atlas and What a Player look the best of the Bay’s fillies.

The winner should come from these four horses. Snaith is not the only Cape Town stable that is looking for success in the Friendly City.

In some of the other Bay races, Candice Robinson and Paul Reeves have two runners each – and they mean business.

Last Friday, our Place Accumulator was caught 24 times – and today we hope the Bass runner in the first leg, Tyrandeus, will send us on our winning ways again. One of the favourite fillies of the Fairview faithful is Beataboutthebush – and her run in a Conditions Plate will create a lot of interest.

She found the opposition too strong in the Majorca Stakes in Cape Town last month, but will be a popular banker today in her hometown.

Beataboutthebush has won five races on the turf track and this will be her first run on the polytrack.

That might encourage some punters to look a bit wider in this race – in case the four-year-old does not take to the surface.

Speaking about the surface, the Fairview track is in the hands of Charles Newcombe these days.

Racing followers got to know him as the Clerk of Scales at Fairview, but he recently became the track manager – taking over from the retired Kleintjie Badenhorst.

Being a track manager is no easy task and Newcombe can be sure that he will be getting a lot of advice from all and sundry.
