VALENTINE’S CABARET

ROMANCE is in the air with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s Valentine’s Cabaret which is on until tomorrow at the Savoy Theatre. Rose Cowpar directs, with Angela Freer in charge of vocal direction. GROUP EXHIBITION

THE ArtEC Gallery is opening the Iingcinga Nenjongo group exhibition led by Thandolwet­hu Mtshatsha tomorrow at 1pm. PARKRUN IN PE

TAKE part in one of the three parkruns in Port Elizabeth: PE Hobie Beach, Lady Slipper and Sardinia Bay. The parkrun is a 5km fun run at 8am every Saturday, which is free and open to all but if you want a time register for a barcode at www.parkrun.

RIVER MILE RACE

THE 94th River Mile swim will be held at Sunday’s River on Sunday with activities starting at 7am. Entry to the River Mile grounds is R20.The first event, the 5km family fun run, starts at 8am followed by the About IT Off-Road Triathlons at 9am.The swimming races start at 11am, with the main women’s mile at 1.30pm and the men’s mile at 2.30pm. BIRD WATCHING TRIP

BIRDLIFE Eastern Cape will go bird watching at the Swartkops estuary on Sunday. Paul Martin will lead the walk. To join meet at 6.30am at Schultz’s in West Street, Newton Park. Spend the morning at the estuary with Paul who has been studying the birds of Swartkops for 30 years. This time of year is ideal for waders and terns and target birds include: great sand plover, Terek sandpiper, Eurasian curlew, little tern and white-winged tern. MEDITATION HOUR
